Radio Frequency Ablation Day

(copied from my FB Post that day)
Today was radio frequency ablation day. (Rfa).

As it turns out there have been two little thyroid cancerous nodes hanging out uninvited in my central neck compartment for a little while.
They may or may not have been able to grow and cause issues being close to my trachea and voice box etc. So we had to forcibly remove them. (They wouldn’t leave with just the normal eviction notice)
I have been more interested in getting some closure on my thyroid cancer journey lately and surgery appeared to be the only option.
Until I heard about RFA while wanting a second opinion. Surgery or RFA? Rfa is where they stick a fine needle into the node and give it around 20 watts of power using guidance of ultrasound. (I was envisioning some righteous rock music from the 90s was going to save me, but I don’t think that is how radio frequency ablation works)
Rfa and I were love at first sight because who wants a 4th neck surgery?
So today I was partially sedated and they stuck some needles in my neck and “zapped” those suckers.
Hopefully in 6-12 months they will shrivel up and die.
But for now I feel like someone slipped something in my drink and am kinda out of it.
But I am regaining more consciousness as the drugs affect wears off and hoping tomorrow will be a normal General Conference morning.
Cheers 🍻 to hopefully a future without lingering thyroid cancer.
